lolite is the gem variety of the mineral Cordierite, that's transparent/translucent recently becoming a favorable gem. It can be light to deep blue and usually has a purplish tinge. It's strongly pleochroic, exhibiting a different color when viewed at different angles, as it can display a blue to violet hue in one direction and pale yellow to colorless in another.
